Process
Four stages1. Moisture history
We ask what got wet, when, and whether the source has been stopped, because that decides how far growth may have spread.
2. Containment
The affected area is separated from the rest of the home as the conditions require, to control dust while materials are handled.
3. Removal and cleaning
Porous materials that cannot be restored are removed. Structural materials that stay are cleaned according to their surface and condition.
4. Drying and verification
Remaining moisture is dried and checked with meters so the conditions that supported growth are gone before repairs begin.

Cost follows the size of the affected area, the materials involved, access, containment needs, how much has to be removed, and whether reconstruction is needed afterward. Can I clean mold myself?
A small area of mold on a hard, non-porous surface can often be cleaned with protective gear and good ventilation. Larger areas, growth on drywall or insulation, growth in an HVAC system, or any mold after sewage or floodwater should be handled by professionals.
How do I keep mold from coming back?

Does insurance cover mold?
